California Home Inspections

Condo Inspections

by Seth Cotterell

Before you purchase a house or condo in California, a home inspection will need to be conducted. Inspections performed by certified professionals provide buyers with the information they will need to make an educated decision. Buying a condo is an expensive proposition, and buyers want to guarantee that their money is well-spent.

Home and Condo Inspections

Condo inspections are very similar to standard home inspections. Certified professionals visit the condo and inspect it inside and out. They are looking for evidence of damage, wear and tear, and possible structural defects that can influence a home buying decision. The inspection often begins with the condo's exterior. Inspectors will examine the condition of exterior walls, windows, screens, doors, moldings, and trim.

The inspection will then head to the inside of the condo. The inspector will analyze the condition of walls, floors, ceilings, and windows. Electrical and plumbing inspections will also be performed. The inspector will look for minor repair work that needs to be done as well as major structural defects.

Condo inspections are an affordable and convenient way to ensure the value of your investment. Additional inspections on air quality and mold can be performed at buyer's request--these are highly recommended. Inspections typically require approximately two to three hours to perform and results can be provided on the same day, in some cases digitally.
