Help for Pharmacology StudentsHelp for pharmacology students is readily available in user-friendly nursing notes. Nursing notes that come in a very brief textbook form are some of the best sources of brief, easy-to-understand information for students of nursing pharmacology. Traditional nursing textbooks may contain hundreds of pages of medical jargon. Pharmacology nursing note texts, on the other hand, may contain less than fifty pages. Even better still, they're usually written in plain English. These texts are brief out of consideration for the busy pharmacology student who must memorize vast quantities of technical information in a short amount of time. Though short in length, nursing notes can be packed with information about specific medications and the drug classes to which they pertain. The difference is that the information is grouped into notes, rather than long sentences, making it easy for students to find, read, and memorize important information. Examples of Nursing Pharmacology NotesFor example, under the bold heading of "Diuretics" may be listed specific classes of diuretics: osmotic, potassium sparing, thiazide, loop, and carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. Each of the listed items may then contain a brief summary of its effects, nursing interventions, therapeutic uses for the medication, and possible side effects. Finally, specific drug examples may be listed--this can be especially helpful. Furthermore, in order to present all of these details in a user-friendly format, some nursing pharmacology texts may color-code this information. Each category--therapeutic uses, interventions, medication effects and side effects--is printed in a distinct color. Though it may seem like a small thing, color coding makes it much easier for students to perform memorization drills in preparation for nursing pharmacology exams. It is definitely recommended that nursing students look for notes which use this type of color coding. ![]() Get all Medical Education articles via
