Windows Toolbars

Toolbars are used in computer and software applications to assist the user in quickly accessing information. As in the case of the Windows toolbars, toolbars can be used to launch an application. Toolbars can also be used to perform certain functions.

Toolbars are generally displayed as a horizontal row, although most can also be configured so they are shown in a vertical format. Most toolbars are designed so they can be docked somewhere in the application or on the desktop. This means that the toolbar is always visible to the user.

Purpose of Toolbars

The primary purpose of a toolbar is to provide quick and easy access to applications and functions that are frequently used. The presence of the toolbar keeps the user from having to constantly search through the various pull-down menus in order to locate operations that they regularly perform. In addition, the toolbar allows the user to open up programs that they use often, without ever leaving the program they are running.

Windows toolbars can be created and customized by the user with options that will fit their individual needs. In fact, some Windows toolbars automatically update themselves with links to frequently used functions or recently opened applications. No matter what is included on the Windows toolbar, using it can save users of Windows based applications a lot of time.
