Body Building Products

by Kimberly Clark

Body building is the process of adding muscle mass to the body through weight lifting and other forms of exercise. Body builders also have very specific nutritional requirements. In order to increase their lean muscle mass and eliminate any excess body fat, it is generally recommended that they increase their maintenance level calorie intake by about 500 to 1,000 calories per day.

However, a lot of body builders enlist the help of dietary supplements to pump up their muscles faster. Although there are various body building products on the market, perhaps the most popular is a supplement called creatine monohydrate. Creatine is an amino acid that is naturally created in the liver and kidneys, from the meats and other protein-rich foods we eat.

Once the body produces or ingests creatine, the majority of it is stored in our muscles. It is then converted into a compound call phosophocreatine, which is used to provide those quick bursts of energy that body builders and other athletes need to perform their strenuous tasks. Creatine has also demonstrated an ability to pull water into the muscles, thereby increasing their size and volume.

Not Just Creatine

Of course, creatine is not the only supplement used by body builders. Even though there have been several serious side effects associated with them, some body builders still use steroids to bulk up. Still others opt for body building products that contain human growth hormones (HGH) or insulin. Other body builders take weight loss products that help them lose unwanted body fat while they work out strenuously to bulk up existing muscles. Some of the most innovate weight loss products on the market are those that have found alternatives to ephedra that provide the same assistance in weight loss without the harmful side effects.
