Energy Boosters

by Kimberly Clark

The term "energy booster" generally conjures up visions of caffeine-laden drinks or sugary snacks. Although these items can provide an instant jolt of energy, the results are rather short lived. What's more, when their effects wear off, they tend to leave you feeling even more sluggish than before.

For this reason, a large number of people have started seeking alternative methods for raising their energy levels. Fortunately, when it comes to suggestions on how to energize yourself, there are several different things that you can try. Performing breathing exercises, practicing aromatherapy, making dietary changes, and taking supplements are just a few of things a person could try to boost her energy.

Keeping Energy Levels Steady

Studies have shown that doing deep breathing exercises for as little as 30 seconds infuses the body with much needed oxygen and significantly boosts flat-lined energy levels. In addition, inhaling substances such as cypress, eucalyptus, geranium, peppermint and spearmint have also demonstrated an ability to revitalize a weary body or mind. Of course, the most popular recommendation for keeping energy levels steady is never skipping a meal and making sure that what you do eat is nutritious and well-balanced.

Still, some people that feel they need a little more assistance in battling their bouts of fatigue. Many decide to purchase one of the many over-the-counter energy boosters. The majority of these products contain very high concentrations of caffeine. However, other key ingredients include synephrine, ephedrine, psuedoephedrine, and phenylpropanalomine.
