Synephrine

by Kimberly Clark

Synephrine is a derivative that is extracted from a fruit plant called zhi shi. Green orange, sour orange, and bitter orange are other names that are commonly used to describe the fruit from which synephrine is derived. Synephrine has been used for centuries by the Chinese for all sorts of medicinal purposes.

In addition to being used to treat medical conditions, the ancient Chinese also used synephrine to stimulate a person's qi, which is defined as the body's energy or life force. Nowadays, people are discovering that just like a cup of coffee or other source of caffeine, synephrine has the ability to raise a person's energy levels. More recently, synephrine has been finding increased popularity as a dietary supplement geared toward helping people lose weight.

One of the main reasons synephrine has become such a popular ingredient in weight control products is its semi-selective sympathomimetic ability. Unlike ephedra, synephrine only targets certain body tissues (such as fat). Ephedra, on the other hand, targeted all body tissues, including the heart.

Similar to Ephedra But without the Side Effects

Except for the aforementioned differences, synephrine behaves very similarly to ephedra. Just like ephedra, synephrine is a stimulant that has the ability to speed up the body's ability to burn calories and stored up fat. When it comes to providing weight loss assistance, most people still believe that ephedra has the edge over synephrine. However, since ephedra has been banned in the United States, synephrine is well poised to take its place.
