Boost ControllersDual solenoid boost controllers are an essential addition to any high performance automobile. Boost controllers help regulate the amount of boost being produced, and can be set to multiple levels by the operator to regulate boost according to situation. They also act as a warning device to help reduce instances of over boost, a potentially damaging scenario for any high performance automobile. What to Look For in a Boost ControllerA good dual solenoid boost controller will provide such features as built in boost gauge, peak boost display, boost scrambler, and a boost limiter safety feature for preventing over boost. Dual solenoid models maximize boost response and are usually capable of handling boost up to 2.5 bar or 36 psi. Look for a model that is ¼ Din size and is compatible with internal actuators and external waste-gates. At the cutting edge of boost controller technology are sequential boost controllers. These models are ½ Din size and are compatible with internal actuators and external waste-gates. These digital boost controllers carry features such as boost unit, which can be set to standard or metric measurements, boost gauges that can be set to either digital or graphical form, and audible boost warning and limiting. These high tech boost controllers can also be set for automatic or manual transmission. The manual setting produces boost by ratio, giving maximum boost response. In automatic mode, the driver simply dials in the desired boost level, which is set directly. No matter what the driving situation, sequential boost controllers give today's drivers a significant edge over the competition. ![]() Get all Auto Parts articles via
