Cosmetic Dentistry Prices

by Tara Peris

As cosmetic dentistry enters the mainstream, prices for many procedures continue to fall. Although few techniques are covered by dental insurance, most patients find cosmetic improvements to be both affordable and worthwhile. With an array of financing techniques offered through most dental offices, it's never been easier to improve the appearance of your smile while still protecting your pocketbook.

Funding Your Makeover

The cost of your dental visit will depend in large part on the complexity of the procedures you select. For example, if you are concerned about yellow, discolored teeth, there are many remedies at your disposal, from at-home bleaching to porcelain veneers. Costs will vary considerably depending on what you choose.

If you opt for something like dental veneers, you can expect to pay anywhere from $500 to $1,000. The solution is permanent and it is often more natural looking that other improvement techniques. However, because it involves the handcrafting of separate veneers for each affected tooth, it is much more labor-intensive compared to other techniques. A dentist will work on each tooth individually, so that each piece is tailored to the surrounding teeth.

Your best bet is to talk to your dentist about your goals at the outset. He or she can help you to weigh the pros and cons of different dental improvement techniques and to determine which make the most sense for you. With so many different options available, there is bound to be something to meet your needs.
