Shark Diving
Isla De GuadalupeMany divers are under the impression that the only good places for great white shark diving lie in South Africa and Australia. Fortunately for those shark enthusiasts who may not choose to travel halfway around the world, there is a much closer option. Isla De Guadalupe, just off the western coast of Mexico, has recently been discovered as one of the best locations for viewing great white sharks. Benefits of Diving Near Isla De GuadalupeOne of the most appealing aspects of shark diving near Isla De Guadalupe is the temperature of the ocean. The water typically ranges from between 65 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit (18 and 21 degrees Celsius). This is a welcome change for those who are used to spending a great deal of time submerged in much cooler waters. In addition to the temperature, the visibility is almost always very good. On average, divers will have visibility to at least 100 feet, which makes it the perfect location for photography and videography. Shark diving is not for the faint at heart, and anyone who is seriously considering a shark adventure should be sure that they will be able to handle being underwater, close to potentially feeding predators. If the idea appeals to you, but you are fairly sure that your spouse or loved one would rather stay top-side, there are many companies that offer package options for non-divers. Isla De Gaudalupe, for example, is also known for its wonderful fishing. Yellowfin tuna can be caught here, as well as other varieties of sport fish. For those who may be hesitant about the possibility of diving with sharks, the opportunity to go deep-sea fishing is another wonderful way to enjoy a vacation on the ocean. ![]() Get all Adventure Travel articles via
