Shark Diving
California Shark DivingCalifornia is the most populated of all of the 50 states. The state is divided into desert, mountains, a central valley, and a spectacular coastline. It is speculated that the first native people on the North American continent came through California and were greeted with incredible beauty and wilderness. In modern times, people travel to California to visit its beautiful natural landscape or take in the sights of its unique cities. Shark Diving Areas in CaliforniaCalifornia is also known for its incredible shark watching. Just off the coast of two major cities lie areas where sharks are known to visit, year after year. Both cities are accessible by major airports, both have incredible culture and natural beauty and both are home to companies who offer shark diving to interested customers. San Diego, in Southern California, is thought of by many to be one of the greatest cities in America. Travel one day by boat from its shores, and you will come upon Isla De Guadalupe, one of the most recently discovered shark playgrounds. The diving there is touted as some of the best in the world for sharks, with incredible visibility and relatively warm water. If you are in the mood for a more northerly location, head up to San Francisco, home of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and about 22 miles out in the ocean, the Farallon Islands. In the fall, sharks visit these islands in search of food. This is due to the fact that the Farallon Islands are a popular breeding ground for the elephant seal and other marine mammals. Whether you prefer north or south, the fact remains that California is a shark lover's paradise. ![]() Get all Adventure Travel articles via
