Lamisil Creams

by Adam Blau

If you are one of the unfortunately large number of people who are affected by fungus infections around your nails, you're probably curious to learn about ways to treat and eliminate the problem. There are two general methods for addressing fungus problems: internally and externally. Which method is best for you can be determined by a number of factors.

Lamisil Cream or Tablets?

Internal medications, like Lamisil tablets, work through the bloodstream. The medication is ingested orally, and it is later absorbed by the body into the blood, where it finds its target fungus and works at abating its spread. The medicine will allow the body to heal naturally, as its dosage is usually paced out over an extended period of time. Though it might not seem a direct way to address a fungal issue, the internal Lamisil tablet has a very good success rate.

For those who choose to medicate their nail fungus through purely external means, Lamisil is available in a topical cream. Lamisil cream contains terbinafine hydrochloride, the same medication that is in the tablets. The cream, however, is applied to the body externally, eliminating the need to consume a pill.

People might choose to apply Lamisil cream instead of ingesting the tablets for several reasons. Lamisil tablets operate through the bloodstream instead of on the external area of a fungus. For those who are at risk for side effects with regard to white blood cell count or organ damage, the external cream may be more beneficial. Discuss with your prescribing doctor whether the cream or tablet form of the antifungal medication would be more suitable for your type of condition.
