Generic Lamisil

by Adam Blau

Unfortunately, prescription drugs in today's society can get to be quite costly. Even with insurance coverage, name brand pharmaceuticals can tally up quite a bill. This is particularly ominous when you consider that more often than not, medication is not the kind of expense one wants to start slacking on.

Thankfully, many name brand prescription drugs are beginning to be available in generic formats. For various patent-related and legal reasons, not every drug is available in a generic brand legally in the United States. Before ordering any prescription drug, be sure to find out the legalities of what is and is not available in your area.

Using Generic Lamisil

For those who suffer from nail fungus infections, physicians often prescribe Lamisil. Lamisil is a brand name version of a drug whose active ingredient is called terbinafine. Terbinafine works quite effectively in a tablet form, entering the blood stream and accumulating at nail bed deposits where fungi grow. The drug starts eradicating the fungus and allows the skin to heal at a decent rate.

If one were to purchase a generic version of Lamisil, it would contain some form of terbinafine in its composition. Generic brands of drugs are usually less expensive than their name brand counterparts. It would only follow suit, then, that generic terbinafine would be considerably cheaper than Lamisil, though its effectiveness would likely be as great in treating nail fungus.
