Australia Work Visas

by Andrew Kozlov

There are several ways to qualify for Australia work visas. For one, if your company is Australia based, and you are hired to fill a job servicing Australia or its territories, you should automatically qualify for a business visa. Indeed, some Australian companies grant temporary business visas to employees, even if those workers remain out of the country for most of their employ.

You can also qualify for a work visa if you start a new business in Australia or if you purchase an existing Australian business and repurpose it. The best part about the work visa program is that your entire family may qualify for temporary migration status just on the basis of your work situation. However, the rules become increasingly complicated when it comes to permanent migration and citizenship.

The Facts on Australian Work Visas

Moreover, if you get fired from your job or quit early, your visa status may be in jeopardy. Temporarily out of work visa holders may apply for residence visas or partner visas, but the logistics can get complicated. One way to improve your chance of success is to migrate to a lesser populated region of Australia or to partner with an Australian or New Zealander.

Australian labor laws are fairly strict, in that they prohibit corporations from taking advantage of foreign nationals. However, in the wake of increasing worldwide migration, Australia has had to handle a growing number of illegal foreign refugees. As a result, immigration services have recently cracked down on some of the more lenient statutes and regulations governing the visa process.
