Discount TVs

by Norene Anderson

Purchasing discount TVs requires a completely different vocabulary from years past. No longer is a television simply a television. Technological advances have changed the way television is viewed. We now must understand that the traditional television is an analog device. It wasn't important to know that 50 or 60 years ago, since that was all there was available. It is a different story today with DTV, SDTV, EDTV, and HDTV.

Digital TV (DTV) appeared on the scene after decades of no real change except the ability to use a remote. This awakening has opened the door to vast changes in the quality of viewing. Standard Definition TV (SDTV) produces a picture quality that is far beyond the best in analog. EDTV (Enhanced Definition TV) soon takes over the lead for picture quality.

Improvements in Discount TVs

As if it needed to get any better than EDTV, along comes HDTV (High Definition TV). HDTV is digital TV, but in a different way than SDTV or EDTV. It is definitely more than a step beyond in quality. It adds a new meaning to an awesome picture. It also makes buying a television more complex than when all you were concerned about was the size and price.

Some of the digital HDTV choices include LCD, DLP, Plasma, and LCoS technologies. You will also be asked if you want flat panel, wide screen, or thin profile. With all the choices available, how can you get what you want at an affordable price? The answer is easy if you buy at discounted prices.
