Subaru Parts
STI Performance PartsSubaru's high-performance parts are known as STI. STI is similar to what TRD is for Toyota--STI components are designed for racing cars, but they can be adapted to standard "on the street" vehicles, such as the Forester, the Impreza WRX, and the Legacy. Subaru also manufactures STI parts they can be adapted to the Vivio, but these parts are rare. Indeed, less than scrupulous manufactures occasionally offer so-called STI Vivio parts that turn out to be recycled parts from old Toyotas and Mitsubishis. In addition to manufacturing motorsport components, STI produces clothing, suspension items, and more. Upgrading to STI is less expensive than you might think, and the performance you get from STI--particularly from STI engines--more than makes up for the expense. Investing in Top Quality STI Performance ComponentsConsider the STI 555 Impreza, a top of the line Subaru which recently won the World Rally Championship. This impressive model featured state-of-the-art turbocharging, precision suspension, and exacting torque. STI parts can be adapted for other brand vehicles; however, they remain best suited for upgrading Subarus. To optimize the performance you get from STI parts, you may need to upgrade multiple components. For instance, if you decide to turbocharge your Subaru by putting in an STI engine with greater horsepower and more torque, you may simultaneously need to lower your suspension, so as to maintain torsional inertia in the face of fast driving. Talk to your mechanic to learn more about safe ways to finesse your STI upgrades. ![]() Get all Auto Parts articles via
