STI Turbo UpgradesSTI turbo motors deliver more power and efficiency than do standard Subaru engines. Whether you're a street racer, a motorcross driver, or simply someone who enjoys the feel of a lot of power on the road, an STI turbo upgrade can create a truly exhilarating driving experience. That being said, you may need additional components to supplement your turbocharger. At maximum use, your turbocharger will use up a lot of power. Dynamism tests on Subaru WRX turbo upgrades, for instance, show almost 250 horsepower at 15.5 PSI. To compensate for all the power, therefore, you may need to upgrade your stock fuel system so as to be able to deliver higher boost levels. Just in case, you should purchase an inclusive warranty for your turbocharger. Turbocharging Your Subaru EngineWhen go with a higher level turbocharger upgrade, you may get perks (like turbine housing) for free. You may want to have a mechanic independently verify that the turbo upgrades you get meet manufacture tolerances. Ideally, you want a balanced rotational assembly, a large compressor, and new seals. Adhere strictly to your maintenance plan, and always double check for perforations in your seals. Some online vendors will allow you to exchange or upgrade old turbochargers. Be aware that it may make more financial sense to trade in your entire turbocharger than to upgrade a shoddy or weather worn engine. If you want to save money and still get excellent road control and acceleration, you might opt for a sport motor instead. ![]() Get all Auto Parts articles via
