Subaru Exhaust Parts

by Andrew Kozlov

If your Subaru engine isn't functioning up to spec, you should diagnose the problem with a professional mechanic. However, before spending thousands of dollars to replace the entire engine, it may behoove you to examine which components aren't working. Then you can replace the broken parts individually. So what are the essential components of Subaru engines?

The intake valve pulls air and fuel into the engine. The crankshaft of the engine then pushes this air / fuel admixture up into the piston, which compresses the volatile mixture and prepares for the next phase of combustion. The sparkplug then sparks, creating a controlled explosion in your engine, which turns the crankshaft and thus delivers mechanical energy to power the vehicle.

Looking Under the Hood at Your Subaru Engine

The crankshaft and the camshaft are responsible for monitoring the intake and exhaust valves and forcing the residual gases from the initial compression back into the engine, so as to extract more mechanical energy. The exhaust system removes waste gases from the engine. Then it filters these gases for release into the environment.

Given that components of your Subaru engine will change and degrade at different rates, it may make sense to check parts individually. You may also want to upgrade to the Subaru AVCS system, which enables your engine to adjust automatically to your driving style for better fuel efficiency and power output. The AVCS is an advanced technology, but it usually pays pay for itself through improved fuel efficiency.
