Prodrive Springs

by Andrew Kozlov

Prodrive springs are specifically engineered to empower drivers to grip the road with increased traction and control. Prodrive springs work with factory Subaru struts, but you should be careful to get the right springs for your model. For instance, springs that are compatible with Subaru WRX 2002 and 2003 models may not work without modification on the 2004 WRX.

What Prodrive springs do is to lower your vehicle by approximately two centimeters. This may not sound like a major adjustment, but it gives your suspension a 20 percent increase in spring rate. The reason this is significant is that allows your car to adjust for twists in the road by lowering your vehicle's center of gravity and thus reducing the likelihood of a flip over.

Lower Your Gravity with Prodrive Springs

Of course, you still need to employ commonsense driving techniques. Even with the best performance race parts and springs, you shouldn't attempt race car maneuvers with a standard Subaru. Be mindful of how your car responds to your pedal pressure, and gain an intuition for how the steering responds during high stress moments along winding roads.

The feedback you get from Prodrive springs should be significant in terms of helping you develop intuition for what your car can accomplish. You may also want to upgrade to a Prodrive exhaust system, so as to filter air through your engine faster and thereby improve both fuel efficiency and motor power. Bear in mind that any Prodrive turbo upgrade should improve your acceleration, so get a feel for the turbo before testing it at fast conditions.
