TOEFL Exam Preparation
TOEIC CanadaThe Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) is used by corporations, government agencies, English training programs and schools. It measures the listening and reading proficiency of EFL and ESL speakers in order to have a sense of their ability to use English in daily work environments. As opposed to the TOEFL, which was created for foreign students applying for admission to colleges and universities in North America, the TOEIC serves a different purpose. The questions you will find in the listening and reading sections of the TOEIC come from a variety of contexts. Some of them pertain to the corporate environment, addressing development, finance, budgeting, and contracts. Technical areas are also included, and you are likely to find a few questions related to electronics, technology, or computers. Furthermore, settings and situations related to social activities, travel and health are also covered. Preparing for the TOEIC in CanadaA large number of language schools, colleges, universities and institutions across Canada offer preparation courses for the TOEIC. Many of these also offer the test on location several times a year. A preparation course will likely help you achieve the high TOEIC score you need to access the job of your dreams. The kind of preparation you need for the TOEIC will depend on your initial level of English. At the basic level you will need to concentrate on English grammar, building vocabulary, and developing listening and reading skills. At the intermediate level you will still need to work on enhancing these skills, but you will also focus on test-taking strategies specific to the TOEIC. At the advanced level what might vary will be the difficulty of the vocabulary and structures, but you will still work on test-taking strategies. ![]() Get all Languages articles via
