Fiji Vacations
Fiji Scuba DivingThe 300 plus islands of Fiji are among the top dive areas for scuba divers in the world. With over 42,000 square miles of water to explore, divers can be assured they will be experiencing the best in underwater exploration. Why the Fiji Islands are a Must for Scuba DiversDue to being located far from heavy traffic areas, the reef system of the Fiji Islands is known as the top of the line in preservation. It has not been over fished, or suffered heavy damage like other known reefs throughout the oceans. While diving, you will see the most diverse coral on the planet, upwards of 400 different species. The fish in this area are numerous and the accounts of more than 35 different species of butterfly fish alone draw in divers from around the world. If you find yourself in the Fiji Islands and you have never been scuba diving before, never fear. Most of the resorts on the island and many private surf companies offer classes for beginners. You generally begin in the resort pool in order to learn the basics of diving and how to use the equipment. Within a few hours, you will be diving with the training team. Expect to see turtles, dolphins, rays, jacks, barracudas, angel fish, multicolored coral, tuna, grouper, lion fish and more. If you are a more experienced scuba diver, there are many options available to you. You can explore the ocean on a night dive, or you can go on a live aboard trip. Here you will live on a boat and take multiple dives throughout your trip. For the expert diver, you can explore underwater canyons, chambers, reefs and much more. Just be sure to bring your underwater cameras and video equipment, because this will surely be an experience you never want to forget! ![]() Get all Fiji Travel articles via
