Destination Weddings

by Wendy Jackson

You and your partner may be thinking of doing something non-traditional for your wedding. In fact, the more non-traditional your wedding is, the more likely that both partners will enjoy the planning. Tradition goes that most weddings are planned by the bride, with little input from the groom. His job is usually to get his tux and to show up. Many couples are looking for something different. Destination weddings are becoming a new, hot trend for many couples.

Take Your Wedding Anywhere You Choose

Destination weddings are coming to the rescue of the couple that does not want to go through the dreaded, predictable wedding ceremony. Destination weddings allow the couple to escape from the misery of seating charts, catering, and family disputes. It also is a lot cheaper than the traditional wedding. Traditional weddings can run into the tens of thousands. The price of a destination wedding package that includes your wedding and honeymoon can be purchased for a much lower price.

A couple that chooses to have a wedding on a remote secluded island is taking control of their marriage from the beginning. They can choose to invite a hundred people, or no one at all. They can choose to have a reception with the traditional wedding cake, or forego it all and sit by a campfire on the beach over a glass of wine and cheese.

For the couple that is planning a destination wedding, the excitement reaches its height when they realize they have already arrived at their honeymoon spot. Forget going to the airport and wandering around aimlessly during a lengthy layover. The time between the wedding ceremony and honeymoon is a matter of mere seconds.
