Homes For Sale In San Diego

by Sandy Mitchell

Homes in San Diego are as varied as the delightful, temperate weather is constant. In the downtown area, sleek high-rise condos overlooking the bay, Arts and Crafts cottages, Victorian showplaces, mid-century modern ranch homes, and beachfront estates are all available. Whether you are looking for a retirement home, a vacation home, or if you are considering relocating to Southern California, San Diego surely has an ideal home for you.

Living in San Diego

Downtown San Diego offers a variety of condos, some modern, some restored. Living downtown gives residents the advantages of being near the beach, near shopping, near sporting events, and near nightlife. Downtown San Diego is vibrant and exciting.

Just north of downtown is Little Italy, a neighborhood of new and restored buildings intermingled with eclectic shopping, casual eateries, art galleries, and antique stores. Not far away is San Diego's Old Town, which is home to authentic Mexican cuisine and fun shopping. Housing here is somewhat more affordable than downtown, while still being near the action.

Coronado is a luxury enclave just across the bridge from downtown San Diego. Here, life is slower and more relaxed. Since available property is at a minimum here--much of the island belongs to the US Navy--real estate prices are quite a bit higher here. Those who can afford it, though, are rewarded with sweeping ocean views and a quaint, small-town lifestyle just minutes from San Diego.
