Chula Vista Real Estate

by Sandy Mitchell

Chula Vista is the second largest city in San Diego County. Just seven miles south of downtown, Chula Vista is connected to the city by freeway and the San Diego trolley. It is home to the Sweetwater Marsh National Wildlife Refuge and the Chula Vista Nature Center, one of the few remaining salt marsh bird habitats on the California coast.

Chula Vista is home to sweeping ocean views, a large marina, and an important library, designed by Mexican architect, Richard Legoretta. Casually elegant seafood restaurants dot the water's edge here. Reserve a table, sip a glass of wine, and enjoy the view.

Live in Chula Vista

Chula Vista offers ocean views, boat access, and, of course, casual California living. Real estate prices are somewhat lower in Chula Vista than in some of her northern neighbors, yet all of the activities and amenities of San Diego are just a short drive away. Prices for condos and single family homes start at around $200,000 here for one-bedroom condos and go up to over $5 million for large oceanfront estates.

Condos are plentiful in Chula Vista. Located in mostly low-rise buildings, many Chula Vista condos are designed in a southwestern style with stucco exteriors and tile roofs. Frequently, these buildings have only one shared wall and offer private entrances, individual garages, and private patios. Many complexes also offer features such as community pools, tennis courts, and clubhouses.
