San Diego County Homes

San Diego County encompasses a collection of vastly different communities. The city of San Diego offers big-city living with housing that varies from sleek, newly-constructed, downtown high-rise condos to historic, 19th century converted storefronts and lofts in the Gaslamp district. San Diego offers cultural and sporting events, interesting and eclectic shopping, and lots of outdoor activities.

Get out of Town: Suburban San Diego

Across the expansive bridge from downtown is the quiet, exclusive suburb of Coronado. Homes in this relaxed, elegant community are relatively expensive. Just outside of San Diego lies the casually posh community of La Jolla. This high-rent area offers unique luxury homes, many with ocean views. Further up the coast are the seaside communities of Del Mar, Solana Beach, and Encinitas. All of these offer quaint, seaside properties as well as modern, efficient condos.

On the north end of San Diego County are Oceanside and Escondido. Bounded by the U.S. Marine Corps base, Camp Pendleton on the north, these municipalities offer a wide variety of housing as well as natural beauty and proximity to Orange County as well as San Diego. Historic arts and crafts-style bungalows, modern southwestern-style condos, and mid-century modern ranch homes are all available here.

Inland are the rapidly growing communities of El Cajon, Santee, and Poway. These family-friendly suburbs are filled with newly constructed condos and semi-detached homes. Developments here offer a sense of small-town community just a short drive away from the big city. Generally less expensive than the seaside suburbs, these towns tend to attract younger homebuyers.
