Coronado Real EstateCoronado, a small village-like community housed on an island just off of downtown San Diego, is home to 26,000 residents, a U S Naval base, and the fin-de-siecle masterpiece, The Del Coronado Hotel completed in 1888. Connected to the mainland by a 2.13-mile long bridge that arches 246 feet above San Diego Bay, Coronado is a quiet, self-contained community. Both ends of Coronado belong to the US Navy and house the US Naval air station and Naval communications center. Between these two installations is a narrow strip of land with a beautiful white sand beach on one side and San Diego Bay on the other. Closer to the bridge, the island widens and here you find the village of Coronado, its principal shopping streets, restaurants, and the Hotel Del Coronado. Where to Live on CoronadoThe main residential area of Coronado is a charming village of around 215 square blocks. Palm trees line these grid-like avenues and give Coronado a well-groomed, manicured appearance. Most of the residences here were built prior to World War II and reflect the Art Deco style popular at that time. The majority of the condos on Coronado are located in a ten-block area near the Hotel Del Coronado. Coronado Cays is another prestigious address. This gated community on the bay side of Coronado offers one and two-story home with private boat docks. Real estate prices on Coronado are some of the most expensive in the San Diego area, ranging from $500,000 for a one-bedroom condo to over $5 million for a luxury estate. ![]() Get all California Real Estate articles via
