ArtworkCover Your Walls offers a large variety of art styles. One of the great things about selecting artwork to correlate with your interior design is that there are so many options to choose from as far as styles and movements. Art is often categorized as part of a movement that took place in the past. This is not so with contemporary art, as the focus has changed from the way a group of artists believed art should be demonstrated to the importance of individualism and diversity. Avant-garde is a term also used to describe movements of artists who attempt to break away from traditional styles by introducing new possibilities of direction. Classical art most commonly describes the bodies of work that were created in ancient times by the Greeks and Romans. However, the term can also refer to any works of art that can be related to specific traditions of historical periods. The Renaissance from the 14th through 16th century was really a cultural movement, but art saw a change from the antique styles from Greece and Rome to styles influenced greatly by concepts of humanism. The art from the Rococo period of the 18th century is characterized as being full of delicacy, lightness and elaborate ornamentation. Romanticism is used to describe a movement of art in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The art from this period shows a rebellion against analytical thought and displays admiration for the human form, nature and exotic exploration. Logical art styles appeared again with the Neo--classicism movement from the mid 1700s to the early 1800s. Impressionism derived from the French schools and attempted to create visual impressions of nature and people by manipulating colors to add light and shadow with random patterns. Other important movements include realism, futurism, cubism, dadaism, surrealism, abstract expressionism and modern art. Finding Movement in the Artwork Inspired by Various MovementsArt has gone through various evolutions because it is a representation of life, and the artists who create the works have also evolved through each century. Some styles of art from the past are great representations of human history. Contemporary art will surely be a historical reference for those who follow us in the future. No matter which periods or movements have inspired artwork that you find appealing, it is important to embrace the pieces that move you. Cover Your Walls offers artwork of every style to suit any taste or setting. Our reproductions of some of the great classics lend an air of distinction to any space. ![]() Get all Posters articles via
