In the foreground of the landscape are large trees that somewhat hide the architecture. The deep greens in the overgrown grass appear soft and cool. The far away sky is full of movement as the red clouds are parting and the sunlight emerges, bringing with it promises of blue skies. The reflection of sunlight suddenly appears on the ground, lighting it in gold tones and revealing little puddles of water. After the full view is taken in, you can smell the wet grass and the after-rain scent you have smelled many times before.

We are reminded of the power of nature when we look at landscape paintings and photographs. When trees are bending in a painting, perhaps you feel the wind on your face. When dark clouds are rolling over golden wheat fields, perhaps you are enthralled by the light source coming from the ground instead of the sky. The shade beneath the weeping foliage of a large tree may calm you and make you feel relaxed and cool. All of these possible emotions and feelings that can be stirred by landscape art are partly what makes it so well loved.
