Miami Hotel Deals

by Sandy Mitchell

Most major airlines offer special vacation packages that include airfare, accommodations, taxes, and transportation all for one price. Since the airlines can guarantee hundreds of travelers to hotels, these packages frequently afford travelers a significant savings over booking each component individually. One call to the airline handles all of these arrangements.

If you are staying in Miami before or after a cruise vacation, consider the packages offered by the cruise line. These, too, are typically less expensive than booking the hotel and car rental by yourself. By using the cruise package, you also get transportation to and from the ship.

Other Savings Ideas

Are you traveling to Miami Beach for a convention? Ask for a convention rate. Many are significantly less--by about 35 percent--than other rates. These rates often are available for extra nights before and after the convention as well.

Travel in the off-season for the best pricing. Hotel rates in high season--from mid-April to mid-December--are generally up to 40 percent more than those offered in the low season. Miami Beach's boutique hotels also offer good value. Rates at these lovely, period hotels typically start at around $150 per night, a good deal for such an exciting neighborhood. Amenities at these hotels often include complimentary breakfast, newspaper, and evening cocktails.
