Miami Hotel Prices

by Sandy Mitchell

South Florida, and Miami in particular, offers a wide range of accommodations for vacationers. Large high-rise hotels near the downtown convention center, sprawling luxury resorts on Key Biscayne, and modest motel-style accommodations along highway A1A all compete for tourists' dollars. Prices start at under 100 dollars per night and go up to several thousand dollars. Whatever your taste and budget, there's a Miami hotel that's right for you.

Miami Beach offers a variety of accommodations. Low-rise, expertly restored, pastel Art Deco hotels line up like soldiers along Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue in the South Beach neighborhood. Further north along Ocean Drive are the grand beachfront resorts. Prices tend to be less expensive in South Beach, with a couple of notable exceptions.

Art Deco Hotel Values

The lovely Art Deco hotels of South Beach frequently offer good value for your money. Rooms can be found for under $150 per night, often including such extras as continental breakfast, daily newspaper, and complimentary evening cocktails. Entertainment, fine and casual dining, shopping, and the beach are just steps away no matter which Art Deco gem you choose.

Art Deco suite hotels also offer a value, particularly to families. You can usually save by reserving a suite rather than two rooms. The best Art Deco suite hotels have charming design details such as hardwood floors, high ceilings, and, sometimes, private sundecks.
