Golf Resort Vacations

by Jason White

Since golf has expanded beyond the sport of the elite, many resorts are starting to cater to the average vacationer. The person who wants to try their swing on the world's top courses but is limited by a less-than-elite income can still book these vacations and get their chance. There are even deals out there on famous golf resorts, just waiting to be found by the resourceful traveler.

There are plenty of ways to cut down on travel costs. If you are able to secure a package deal, your costs will likely include airfare, greens fees, car rental and of course, your room at the resort. The cost of a package truly depends on the quality of the resort, but in the long run, package deals almost always turn out to be less expensive than going a la carte. For example, you are sure to get deals at the clubhouse and on rental equipment, as well as access to some of the better tee times.

Finding the Best Resort Vacation Packages

Enjoying discount golf vacation packages is fairly easy. There are several travel websites that can help you get better prices, especially if you're willing to travel off-season or at the last minute. Many of the sites will have open-ended communication so that you can ask about any golf course anywhere and see if there is a special rate they can get. Agencies tend to have connections with specific resorts, allowing them to offer extra discounts to their clients. This is why it's essential to call (and surf) around and comparison shop. Also, don't be afraid to ask for discounts or inquire about AAA or AARP deals.

It's really a matter of searching around and being just a little patient before booking that resort vacation. If a true resort vacation is proving to be outside your budget, an alternative is to look into local bed and breakfasts. Many of the local places will have special deals with many of the greens in the area.
