Custom Gaming Computer

by Ivan Gale

A custom gaming computer is available through mainstream computer makers or the niche companies such as Voodoo PC or Alienware. The ability to customize is the name of the game in the computer gaming market. With every consumer having specific needs and specific restrictions placed on them by their checkbooks, it's no wonder companies make everything from sub-$1,000 notebooks to $6,000-plus gaming behemoths.

Custom Gaming Computers Vary Greatly in Price

A good place to look for advice is within the pages of computer magazines. These publications do benchmark tests with software developed just for the task. Look for their scores on power and speed, such as frames per second. These publications tend to be fastidious in their evaluations, and most shy away from giving purely glowing reviews.

Even if they like the product, computer magazines are still liable to list the things they didn't like in terms of weight, customer service, or even the product warranty. Take all of these factors into consideration, as well as the price and performance. You're after the best deal overall, and that can often include a responsive and helpful manufacturer.

There is a book on the market by a respected writer who says that playing video games adds to our intelligence. Without going into that discussion, it's clear that games have come a long way from their humble beginnings. People are even analyzing the strategy and problem-solving aspects of some computer games. They're fun, they're addictive, and in many respects, they're the work of geniuses. If you're a beginning or experienced gamer, remember that custom computers are best found online, and only after you've done your homework.
