Cigarette Odor Removal

by Tara Peris

Cigarette odor removal can present quite a challenge. Part of the difficulty resides with the fact that cigarette smoke permeates the air, seeping into clothes, furniture, and linens. Thus, you can wash your clothes or your sheets, but it is unlikely to remove the odor of cigarette smoke completely. If you really want to get the job done, you need to take broader measures.

Smoke Screen

There are all sorts of ways to remove the smell of cigarette smoke. Your first consideration should be whether the goal is to mask the odor or to actually remove the agents that are causing it. There are numerous air freshening sprays, plug-in devices, and scented candles that can address stale air. These are short-term solutions that are best for short-term problems with smoke odors.

However, if you wish for a long-term solution, it is best to pursue other options. For example, many vacuum cleaners come with filters and cleaning agents that can actually remove smoke residue. In addition, there are a number of air filtering devices that don't simply mask odors, bur rather, remove them altogether.

These air filters attract dust, pollen, and other irritants and trap them before they can circulate through the air. When it comes to cigarette smoke, these air filters can be very effective tools for preventing unpleasant odor. They prevent smoke from lingering in the air and thus, do not allow it to permeate clothing and furnishings with the same intensity.
