Stop Mold

by Tara Peris

The only effective way to stop mold is to limit moisture in the environment. Although there are countless cleaners and sprays on the market these days, they are of limited use in most indoor settings. If you really want to put an end to your problems with mold, you'll go right to the source and knock out their support system.

Putting an End to Mold Once and For All

When it comes to removing mold, chemical cleaners can be very effective, especially if they have anti-bacterial properties. To be sure, the right cleaning products can help to extract existing mold and to diminish the odors it creates. They are excellent tools for dealing with mold once it has already happened.

However, if your goal is to stop mold from occurring in the first place or to prevent it from returning once it's gone, you will need much more than carpet treatments and anti-bacterial sprays. You will need to create a climate in which it is difficult for mold to thrive. By adjusting indoor temperature and moisture, you are controlling the very elements on which mold lives.

If this sounds difficult, it's not. These days, there are all sorts of devices designed to promote climate control. In particular, air purification and filtration systems can be used to keep the air clean and dry. In many respects, these devices do double duty, as they can remove moisture from the environment while also filtering out mold spores that travel through the air. It's your single best bet for making sure mold doesn't have a chance to flourish in your home.
