Olympics TicketsThe Olympics are the largest international sporting event in the world. It is an enormous undertaking for a city to host the games because hundreds of competitions are conducted simultaneously throughout the city. For the consumer, this means an excellent chance to witness the action live. There are two major organizations that control the ticketing process for Olympic events. First, there is the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that is the overall governing body for the Olympic games. The IOC is responsible for establishing regulations for all the competitions and selecting the host city. Secondly, there is the Olympic Host Committee, the governing body selected by the host city that conducts local planning for the ceremonies. When purchasing tickets to any Olympics, it is the Host Committee that provides specific event information. Witness a Gold Medal MomentAfter the Olympic Host Committee has selected or built its venues and established a schedule for the sporting events, tickets are sold to the public. You can expect tickets to go on sale for the Olympic games at least one year in advance. Tickets can be purchased online and by telephone. You should consult the Host Committee for details. You may also consult your National Host Committee for recommendations on where to purchase tickets. Your National Host Committee is the organization that selects the athletes that will attend the ceremony on behalf of your country. There are hundreds of events conducted during the Olympic Games, some more popular than others. The events that are televised are more likely to sell out well in advance. Also, keep in mind which sports are favored by the host country. These competitions will also sell out quickly. You can expect to find the best seats for qualifying events where a medal is not awarded. The most sought-after events are the opening and closing ceremonies. If you are having trouble finding your preferred seats through the Host Committee, try buying your tickets through a reputable ticket broker. ![]() Get all Tickets articles via
