Online Ticket Broker

by Alexis Leona

Online ticket brokers provide premium tickets to consumers by buying and reselling tickets from several sources. If there is an event that you simply cannot miss, an online ticket broker can guarantee you a seat. However, you can expect to pay a very high price for the ticket. It is best to only use a broker for events that are most important to you.

The Virtual Ticket Market

When choosing an online ticket broker, take the following precautions. Always make your purchases using a credit card over a secured web server. It is preferable to purchase tickets from brokers who operate a storefront in addition to selling tickets online. Brokers with storefront operations are most likely to adhere to state and federal business regulations. You may also want to ask if the broker is a member of the National Association of Ticket Brokers, an industry organization that regulates the practices of ticket brokers.

Once you have selected an online broker, make certain that you are getting exactly what you want before you complete your purchase. Consult a seating chart for the venue to identify the exact location of the tickets. You can find seating charts at the broker's website and in the front section of the area's Yellow Pages. Always ask if a seat has an obstructed view. A reputable broker will clearly disclose this information in advance of your purchase.

When you commit to purchasing tickets, be sure that you are satisfied with the price you will pay. Prices of tickets sold by brokers are always greater than face value and fluctuate according to the market value. It is possible that cheaper seats in the same area will become available at a later date. Unfortunately, all ticket sales are non-refundable with the exception of events that are cancelled by the event producers. Once you have completed your purchase, there is no going back. To be fully satisfied with your purchase, the price you pay must be equivalent of the actual price of the ticket plus the sentimental value you give to attending the show.
