Super Bowl Tickets

by Alexis Leona

There is no question that Super Bowl Sunday has been elevated to the status of a national holiday. All public activity seems to come to a halt during game time. As a result, it is nearly impossible to score a ticket to the Super Bowl and it's easy to say that any seat in the stadium is a premium ticket. If you want to get into the game, you have two choices--gamble or pay the price.

Take a Chance on the Super Bowl

One little known fact is that Super Bowl tickets are distributed by lottery to the public. Approximately 500 pairs of tickets are made available for a public lottery. Even though the lottery is not widely publicized, thousands of fans apply for the chance to purchase a seat. Every year, the host city appoints a committee to produce the Super Bowl. If you want to put your name in the pot, be sure to contact the Super Bowl Host Committee for instructions on how to apply.

The remainder of the tickets is divided up amongst corporate sponsors and broadcasters. If you happen to hold season tickets for one of the participating teams, you may have a chance to enter a lottery for tickets. Consult the team for details about lotteries for season ticket holders.

If none of these methods work, contact a reputable ticket broker. There are tickets available on the secondary market. Prices are steep considering that face value for the tickets starts at around $300. Be prepared to invest a lot of your financial resources into your Super Bowl experience.
