RV Cleaning

by Kat Yares

Cleaning your RV is much like cleaning any room in your house. For the different fabrics, you will need different cleaners. Many of the cleaners used are the same as those used in your living room or kitchen. Others are those you would use to detail the inside of your automobile.

The Basic Steps for Keeping Your RV Clean
Begin cleaning your RV the same as you would any other cleaning job, by vacuuming. Use the available tools that came included with your cleaner to vacuum the floors, upholstery and other surfaces. Use the crevice tool to get in between cushions and other hard to reach areas. Make sure you also vacuum the header fabric (the lining on the roof of the RV) to remove dust and road grime.

For upholstered fabric furniture in your RV, you can use any good upholstery cleaner to deep clean the fabric. Leather should be washed down with a good leather cleaner and thoroughly rinsed. Dashboards, steering wheels and other trim can be cleaned with products specifically developed for vinyl if need be. Other items, such as refrigerators and ranges, can be cleaned just as you would inside your home.

All fabric surfaces within your RV should be sprayed with a stain retardant and waterproofed once a year to keep the fabric looking fresh. These products can be purchased at your local super center or automotive store. By quickly cleaning any spills in your RV, it's easy to keep the fabrics of your home on wheels looking new. This leaves you more time to enjoy the open road.
