Professional Logo Design

by Patricia Skinner

If you've chosen to go with professional logo design for your company, congratulations, you're on the right track. Following the advice of experts will ensure that you get your choice exactly right, and you'll be giving your company a huge boost. Tip number one is, don't ever try and copy an existing famous brand.

True, the all-time greats are instantly recognizable. They do for their companies exactly what you'd like your logo to do for yours. However, brands such as Sony, GM and Starbucks are established. They don't need any help to get their message across. Unless you are at the helm of a Fortune 500 company, expect that your logo is going to have to say a little more than, for example, the GM logo.

Painting a Picture for Your Customer

You may have to use a symbol to really get your message across. For example, if you are choosing a logo for a construction company, a symbol of some part of the construction process--such as a man on a ladder, or a machine in action--might get the message across. If you have a donut bakery, than by all means, show off your wares.

To choose a name or an initial for a little-known company would be a waste of a valuable opportunity to get your message across clearly. You will need to do a lot of advertising and promoting to get any new logo in front of the public. But your job will be that much easier if your professionally designed logo speaks to potential customers.
