Sail Away

A sailing vacation is a relaxed and enjoyable way to visit The Caribbean. Ironically, the islands with the large airports tend to get lost in the flocks of tourists that those airports bring. Sailing gives you the means to visit smaller, less commercial islands and less developed areas of the larger islands. From Iles des Saintes to Barbuda, from Nevis to Petit St. Vincent, these smaller islands are charming, friendly, and lovely.

Sailing vacations take many forms. Are you skilled in crewing your own sailboat? Then choose a "bareboat" charter and chart your own course. Have you always dreamed of sailing, but you live in Missouri, or other land-locked locale, and have never had a chance to sail? Then hire a sailboat complete with crew. The crew can also include a cook to whip up delicious, varied meals with the local ingredients found in port.

Sailboat vacations can be booked through a local travel agent or via a charter sailboat operator. One price includes airfare, transportation to and from the sailboat, the crewed or bareboat charter boat, and provisions for the boat. Itineraries vary. Choose from a 50 foot to a deluxe 200 foot sailboat. Charter sailboats are available for two to twelve guests plus crew.
