DVD Duplication Company

by Michelle Baugh

When beginning a media duplication company, it is important to have all the right equipment. It is especially important to have all the equipment before taking orders from customers. Potential clients will expect orders to be processed promptly, and they most likely won't be very tolerant of delayed production due to missing equipment.

Before beginning an advertising campaign or launching a website, it is a good idea to sketch out an idea of what exactly the business will offer. Other than duplication, is it feasible to offer label printing? Will there be an artwork department? What if a client requests special packaging? It is crucial to decide on these things prior to attracting clientele so policies can be made and equipment bought. Once the equipment is set up, a couple of practice runs should be done, to ensure that everything is functioning well and to make sure everyone involved understands how to operate the machinery.

The most vital piece of equipment for any duplication company is a burner. When looking at burners, it is best to look at a variety of different models before deciding on one. Speed is an important factor, especially when considering turnaround time for clients. Depending on how comfortable everyone in the company is with technology, a user-friendly burner might be the best option. There is a lot of resources on burners available on the Internet, and electronics stores often have knowledgeable staff on hand to assist customers with questions.

Another important purchase is a printer. Before researching printers, it must be determined what its function will be. If the company intends to print labels on stickers and then apply the stickers to discs, then many of the high quality printers available on the market will serve this purpose. However, if the highest quality is desired, it may be beneficial to consider one of the printers specially designed for disc labeling. These printers print directly onto the surface of printable media with good results. When considering one of these printers, though, take into consideration that compatible discs are slightly more expensive.
