Cheap Flights To Madrid

by Sandy Mitchell

Getting to Madrid is quick and easy. Iberia, Spain's government-sponsored carrier, offers non-stop service from New York, Miami, and Chicago to Madrid. It's about a six-hour flight from New York. By flying Iberia, your Spanish vacation starts when you board the plane. Spanish flight attendants, Spanish wine, and Spanish cuisine help get you in a festive mood upon departure. Iberia's airfares are very competitive. The airfare between New York and Madrid is often under $500 per person, plus taxes.

Charter flights offer another affordable non-stop option between many US cities and Madrid. Carriers, such as Spanair and Air Europa, connect the United States and Madrid. Charter flights are generally more restrictive than traditional flights. Often, the airfare must be paid in full at the time of booking and is nonrefundable.

Online discount travel sites also frequently offer discounts on flights to Spain. Intriguingly, discounts are most often found by those travelers booking very early or very late. Deep discounts are usually reserved for vacationers able to travel within a few days. Combining your hotel and air reservations sometimes also saves money, as opposed to booking each separately.

Sorting through all the airfare options to fly to Spain can be confusing. Enlist the aid of your local travel agent. She can, usually without a fee, help you choose the option that best meets your needs. She can also confirm hotel accommodations, transportation to and from the airport, and sightseeing tours.
