This security network allows him to connect to the Internet and ensures that he will not be transmitting dangers from the Internet onto the VPN.

If an employee is on vacation and an emergency pops up at the business, she can use her computer to try and deal with it via the VPN. The same holds true for an employee that has to go overseas for a business transaction. She will still be able to access the network if configured properly, no matter where she is in the world.
