MGM Grand Concerts

by Julie Atkin

A trip to Las Vegas is not complete without an extravagant show. During the early days of the Strip, the shows were often lounge acts and showgirls. The standards were raised when Cirque de Soleil and Stomp took stage, bringing a higher lever of entertainment to the Strip. Las Vegas now hosts A-list entertainers and sold out shows. The MGM Grand hosts many of these star-studded shows and concerts throughout the year.

Shows and Venues

The Garden Arena at the MGM Grand is a 15,000 seat venue, and mainly hosts headlining acts such as Barbra Streisand, Paul McCartney, and the Rolling Stones. The Garden Arena is also home to heavyweight championships. This arena has earned the MGM Grand a notable spot on the Strip, and these combined concerts and events at the Garden Arena have brought even more people to Las Vegas.

The space formerly known as the EFX Theatre is also home for several acts that are currently touring. Now called the Hollywood Theatre, this arena has hosted acts like Chris Isaak, Howie Mandel, Penn & Teller, and Tom Jones. As a smaller venue, the Hollywood Theatre is the spot for more traditional Las Vegas performances.

And for adults, the MGM Grand hosts a variety of shows and attractions. Currently, the MGM features an adult show called La Femme. This show features dancers and performers from the famous Crazy Horse in Paris. Another notable show is KA. Cirque de Soleil performs this martial arts themed show with lasers, and of course, their amazing acrobatics. Studio 54, modeled on the 1970s nightclub, is incredibly popular, and will often feature a special concert. For example, Elton John marked the opening of this club a few years ago.
