Ebay Sell Tutorial

by Amy Hunter

Once you decide to sell an item on Ebay, the first step is to create an account. Ebay has made this process extremely simple and self explanatory. With a valid email address, you can have an account set up within 10 minutes.

From Ebay's main site, or any site within Ebay, look at the top of the screen. Click on "Sell" to be taken directly to the account creation page. This page guides you through some basic information steps that Ebay requests, including your name, a user name and password, and your email address. Once you have registered and created a seller's account, you are ready to list your item.

Ebay also has a form to walk you through your listing. By clicking on "sell your item" you will be prompted to chose a category for your item. Once you have chosen a category and possibly a sub-category, you are ready to write your ad.

You will write a headline for you ad, and then be directed to write the text. Once you have written your ad, you have the option of uploading a picture. The picture is pretty much standard and worth the few cents necessary to draw more traffic to your ad.

You will also have the option to ad extras to your ad, for an additional fee. If you are selling in a category that has many listings, you may want to pay extra for bold type, higher placement, or highlighted text. Another option is to place your item in multiple categories. This will also increase the ad's visibility.
