Frontpage Web Design

by Joshua Billings

Microsoft FrontPage is a popular web design program from the makers of Windows. With it, users can either build a web page from the ground up with a combination of code-based and graphic interfaces, or use one of the many provided templates to build off previously created web pages. Either way, FrontPage is a powerful and versatile web-authoring tool that can be effective for users of all levels.

For beginners, FrontPage offers a variety of templates that can help get the design process off the ground. These are basically pre-created pages that are available for public use. They can be reproduced as is, or added on and modified as the user sees fit. Elements from different templates can even be taken and then combined in a new page.

For those people who have a specific idea of what they want their page to look like and don't want to resort to templates, FrontPage offers an easy-to-use and yet still powerful interface that allows you to alter your page on a variety of levels. FrontPage's interface can also accommodate the point-and-click method. If, on the other hand, you're comfortable with straight coding, FrontPage will let you access your web page on that level as well.

What draws many users to this program are the extras. Microsoft's extensive online community provides many more services to FrontPage users than what's simply in the box. With a variety of plug-ins and add-ons available all over the web, the possibilities are extensive. Plus, FrontPage is continually known for being easy to use and navigate.
