Microsoft Frontpage
Frontpage CalendarOne of the most interesting features of Microsoft FrontPage is its ability to incorporate resources from other programs into its webpages. A good example of this is the way that FrontPage can use calendars created using either Microsoft Outlook of SharePoint Services. Powerful alone, these programs all become even more powerful when used together. For personal (that is, non-business) users, creating a calendar using Microsoft Outlook is only a point and click away. Once completed, this calendar can then be linked to a developing Microsoft FrontPage web page, allowing users of the site to access the calendar as they would any other graphic. Doctors, dentists, and other practitioners can post their appointments; bands can keep their fans informed about upcoming gigs. The possibilities are almost endless. For more specifically business-oriented or professional users, the large Microsoft online community allows you to create calendars that can then be accessed by a variety of other specified users. This requires a subscription to SharePoint Services; with this subscription in hand, however, the process of calendar creation is very easy. Once its content, security, and navigation options have all been specified, it's up for use by other members of your business. The advantages to this type of setup are obvious. Rather than making and then distributing dozens or even hundreds of copies of a timetable or calendar, employees can instead go right to the source. This way, your entire company can keep itself up to date minute by minute with whatever changes the schedule has undergone. While this isn't the only program of its kind, the connectivity of FrontPage makes up a large part of its appeal. ![]() Get all Web Development articles via
