Make CDs

by Abby Luttrell

In order to make CDs that are the most professional product on the marketplace, it's important to pay attention to your artwork and graphic design. Your CD cover and track list should be appealing, charismatic and unique. Here are some tips that will help you avoid some common graphic design errors.

How to Make CDs with High-Quality Graphics

Avoid low resolution images. The artwork you submit for CD production must be at least 300 DPI at output size. Don't submit artwork at lower resolutions such as 72 DPI (screen resolution). If you attempt to artificially boost the resolution in a program such as Photoshop, the image will look bad when printed.

When submitting full-color files, use the CMYK format. Do not submit RGB files. Black-and-white files must be in grayscale format and files using Pantone colors must be set up with Pantone spot channels.

Be sure to submit images in an approved image format. Image files must be TIFF, EPS, JPG, GIF or PICT. When you make CDs, be sure to work with a recommended CD replication service on the Internet that will give you hands-on help and consultation to ensure the highest quality CD possible.
