Excalibur Hotel
Excalibur Las VegasOpened in 1990, the Excalibur Las Vegas is owned by the Mandalay Resort Group. Its location is on the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Boulevard, on the new south end of the Las Vegas Strip. After construction on the Excalibur was complete, the Group turned its attention toward constructing the pyramid-shaped Luxor a half mile from the Excalibur. The Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas is a sprawling white castle with the requisite moat and drawbridge. Every hour after dark, a magical battle ensues near the moat between Merlin the Magician and a fierce, fire-breathing dragon. The towering stone walls, displays of armor, and flagstone entry help preserve the illusion of stepping into King Arthur's court. Swords and shields, as well as ornate medieval-style stained glass windows, are found throughout the property. Since the Excalibur is found in Las Vegas, most assume that it solely caters to the gambling set. While it is true that there is a giant casino on the property, there is also an entire floor dedicated to non-gamblers that is also child-friendly. These public areas include a renaissance fair, a medieval village, and an amphitheater. Due to its proximity to the Luxor Hotel and Mandalay Bay, in addition to being owned by the same company, the Excalibur is well-equipped with connections to both hotels. A monorail connects the Excalibur to Mandalay Bay, with a stop at the Luxor. Trains leave every three to seven minutes, 24 hours a day, and the trip from the Excalibur to Mandalay Bay runs around seven minutes, including the stop at the Luxor. ![]() Get all Hotels articles via
