Wisconsin Lakefront Property

by Grace Moore

Wisconsin is bordered by Lake Michigan to the East and Lake Superior to the North. Besides these two Great Lakes, there are hundreds of other lakes located in Wisconsin. This means that no matter what you are looking for, whether it's a small hunting cabin, an empty lot to build on, or a flashy condominium with lake views, you can probably find it.

Door Peninsula, located on Wisconsin's eastern coast, is one good example. It juts out into Lake Michigan, making it a prime location for lakefront property. This area is sometimes referred to as "the Cape Cod of the Midwest." If you are looking for sophistication, modern structures, and close proximity to big city life, the Door Peninsula is a great place to look. One bedroom condominiums with excellent views of the lake and fully modern amenities start at around $200,000.

If you are interested in a family style retreat, on the other hand, one of the smaller lakes a few hours from Green Bay might be what you're looking for. Lake George, for instance, allows jet skis and power boats. You can enjoy swimming as well as water sports there, since the water quality is classified as excellent. If you are so inclined, there is also hunting in the area. Many of the lakefront properties are log cabin style homes. However, while they might appear rustic-looking on the outside, many are equipped with modern amenities. A three-bedroom home in this area will likely start at around $200,000.

Parcels of undeveloped lakefront property in Wisconsin are also plentiful. On Hawk Lake, near the Wisconsin/Michigan border, you can buy 30 acres of land for around $300,000. This area boasts access to hunting, camping, water skiing, fishing, and snowmobiling in the winter. No matter what type of lakefront property you are looking for, the choices in Wisconsin won't disappoint you.
