Texas Lakefront Property

by Grace Moore

The Lone Star State of Texas certainly has its fair share of beautiful lakefront property. One great thing about owning lakefront property in Texas is that you can count on sunny days far outnumbering rainy ones. If you enjoy water sports, fishing, and swimming year round, you might wish to consider properties available in Texas.

One of the most popular lakes in Texas is Lake Travis. They say that everything is bigger in Texas, and Lake Travis is certainly huge. It is 60 miles long, stretching its way through several communities. Boating is particularly popular on this lake, which features several marinas, docking areas, regattas, and a Christmas boat parade. Real estate on Lake Travis is plentiful, and Lake Travis's proximity to Austin makes it a desirable location.

Because Lake Travis is so big and covers such a large area, the choices in real estate are diverse. You can purchase a five-bedroom home with beautiful lake views for less than $2,000,000, but if you want something more modest and less expensive, there are several condominium complexes from which to choose. If you would prefer to build your dream lakefront home on undeveloped property, you can purchase a lot for less than $200,000.

Lake Palestine is a man-made dam lake located near the city of Tyler. Lake Palestine offers many of the same activities and advantages as Lake Travis, but the real estate is much less expensive. You can find 2,000 square foot homes for as low as $80,000. However, you can also find brand-new homes on a golf course for around $250,000. Overall, Texas has some excellent lakefront properties available.
